Familial Paroxysmal Nonkinesigenic Dyskinesia

Familial paroxysmal nonkinesigenic dyskinesia is a movement disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of dystonia, chorea, or athetosis that occur without a clear triggering movement. Attacks may be provoked by stress, fatigue, or alcohol, and neurologic examination between attacks is often normal. Genetic testing confirms the diagnosis and supports counseling.
