This no-charge program provides genetic testing for individuals in the US or Canada suspected of having cholestatic liver disease, including PFIC and Alagille syndrome. The panel evaluates many genes linked to inherited cholestasis to help confirm a diagnosis and guide care. Eligible patients may also access post-test genetic counseling at no cost.

What is this program?

The Cholestasis Genetic Testing Program, sponsored by Ipsen, offers no-charge genetic testing for people in the US who may have progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) or Alagille syndrome (ALGS), or another unexplained cholestatic liver condition.

Who is eligible?

You may qualify if you live in the US and either:

  • Have cholestasis without a known cause
  • Have unexplained chronic liver disease (such as jaundice or abnormal liver tests)
  • Are not already diagnosed with an extrahepatic disorder such as biliary atresia

What genes are tested?

Individuals in the US tested through the Ipsen Sponsored Cholestasis Genetic Testing Program are eligible for post-test genetic counseling at no charge, provided by Labcorp Genetics.

You can schedule online or call 1-800-436-3037 and ask to schedule a genetic counseling appointment.

How long do results take?

Most results are available in 2–3 weeks after the sample reaches the laboratory.

Who orders the test?

Any qualified US healthcare provider can order it on your behalf.

Will anyone else see my results?

Personal results are only shared with you and your provider. De-identified data may be used for research or program evaluation.
