Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia (TIO)

Sponsored diagnostic testing programs for Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia (TIO)

Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is a rare paraneoplastic disorder in which typically small, slow-growing tumors overproduce FGF23, causing renal phosphate wasting and impaired vitamin D metabolism. This results in bone pain, fractures, muscle weakness, and progressive osteomalacia. Symptoms often persist until the tumor is identified and removed.
